Album Cover

The album cover project enabled me to cultivate conceptual imagery and use visual narrative to tell the story of an artist. This album design of Prince’s Purple Rain draws from the iconic typeface and color palette of the original cover. The motif seen throughout this design of a purple banana stems from the track “Let’s Go Crazy”. This motif symbolizes recklessness in duality with the seriousness of Prince’s career, which is featured in the photograph on the back cover. The sketch-like quality of the typography plays into the edgy energy of this album. The newspaper featured in the background of the front cover is an article written about Prince’s rise to fame. The crinkled manipulation of this background connects to the tracklist on the back cover.
