Magazine Spread Reboot
The magazine spread reboot project allowed me to practice the creation of editorial layouts and use both photography and typography in one design. Because I was given a lengthy article about exercise physiology, I didn’t have much room for illustration or graphics. This layout design relies on unified photography, a bold color palette, and detailed typography to accommodate for the large body text. The placement of the layered title over a photograph creates movement in the spread, while maintaining a modern feel. The right-aligned pull quote corresponds to its paired photograph and connects both photographs to the body text. The use of serif fonts for both the title and body copy brings a level of professionalism and minimalistic look to this spread.
